Tomorrow marks two months since our wedding day. This was genuinely the best day of my life and I owe it to my husband. Something that doesn’t come easy to me is slowing down and being present, however I think I nailed it on our wedding day. It felt so easy to sit back and let things happen. Corey and I were focused on only one thing and that was on each other. One piece of advice we heard repeatedly in the days leading up to the wedding was ‘be present and enjoy each moment because the day flies by‘. This could not be more true. Just the other day someone asked both Corey and I what we would have changed about our wedding day. In that moment, we looked at one another and jointly replied, “absolutely nothing”. While it may seem impossible for a day where so much planning and preparation was had, something must go wrong. All of the minor mishaps I feared happening on this day ended up being a waste of energy and unnecessary worry. Corey and I genuinely feel that we could not have asked for a more perfect day. October 22nd was a beautiful Fall day, a mild 62 degrees with plenty of sunshine. We had 200 of our closest friends and family in one room (something I’m not sure will ever happen again), all present to help us celebrate our love and the beginning of our lives together.
In this first Wedding Wednesday recap I included photos from getting ready, reading our cards, my mom and sisters helping me into my wedding dress and our first look. Without hesitation, Corey and I were certain we wanted a first look before the ceremony at Holy Family. This was undoubtedly my favorite moment. I was nervous – jittery, heart beating fast, shaky voice. The best part was my smile and the meaning behind it. When I opened the door to theWit rooftop and saw Corey standing there facing out, I stopped and just smiled. At that moment it dawned on me that we’d finally made it to this point after nine amazing years together. Through incredible ups and many downs, we were confident in beginning our next chapter. And the minutes that followed on the rooftop that day included tears, twirls and pure happiness. The best part is that moment will never be taken away; it is ours forever.
I can’t wait to share more of this incredible day with you and want to personally thank our brilliant photographer, Jill Tiongco, for capturing every moment, emotion and interaction so perfectly. Be sure to follow along over the next few weeks as I give you a glimpse into our special day.
And lastly, to my husband: thank you for looking at me the way you do, supporting me the way you do, encouraging me the way you do and simply loving me just as I am. You’re one of a kind.
