Holiday Faux Fur

We’re less than one week out from Christmas – how?! My last few days have consisted of shopping for gifts, baking cookies, wrapping up projects at work and getting my fill of Christmas movies. It’s no secret that I love this time of year. Even with the hustle and bustle and holiday stressors, I witness a great degree of kindness and presence of those around me. December is a time for rest and somehow inspires me to slow down.

I was fortunate to spend five days in Los Angeles earlier this month for the domino x CB2 x Fred Segal pop up activation (I am Midwest Sales Director for domino – blogging is just a hobby), which delayed much of my holiday to-do list. No complaining here as the weather in LA was beautiful (despite the awful fires) and I am grateful to have spent some of the weekend exploring Venice Beach and West Hollywood.

I touched back down in Chicago, greeted by 15 degree temps. And just like that, I was back in high holiday spirits. We’ve already kicked off the festivities, with both extended family Christmases this past weekend. Corey and I are changing things up a bit this year. We’ve spent both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Iowa the last few years, but have decided to stay back and celebrate our first Christmas together in our new home. It’ll be very different but I am over the moon to spend the day just the two of us. I’m most excited to start our own traditions that we’ll eventually have to share with a family of our own one day. I’m envisioning a slow + relaxed morning: homemade breakfast, gift exchange + stockings, roaring fire, Christmas music on. Keeping my fingers crossed for a light snowfall!

Sounds perfect, right? Perfectly low key – just the way we like it.

I’ve been on the hunt for a faux fur coat and lucked out when I came across this gem during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’ve worn it on repeat these last couple of weeks while the temps have been somewhat bearable. I laugh because every time someone hugs me, they freak out over how cozy and soft my coat is! The fit is true to size (mid-thigh length) and top notch quality. Can’t recommend it enough!
