Can you believe Christmas weekend is here?! Once the holidays roll around, I always feel like the year flew by…but I feel 2016 genuinely came and gone. I think it’s because we spent a majority of the year planning for our October wedding (which was incredible), so the moving of time was on a whole different level.
I’ve been planning out my outfits for this weekend and decided on a subtle mix of formal with casual comfort. Shoes are typically the last piece of the outfit planning puzzle, but I changed things up a bit and started from the bottom up. My new stone oiled suede booties (currently 40% off) by La Canadienne are incredibly functional and very fashion forward. I received them from Hanig’s Footwear, a local Chicago store that carries well-known brands of practical footwear. What I love most about Hanig’s is the combination of global fashion trends with the atmosphere of a local family business. La Canadienne focuses on versatility and indomitable protection against wet and cold conditions, which is a huge plus for us Chicagoans! I’ve already got my eye on another pair…the Sharon Black, also by La Canadienne.
I paired the Phinn suede booties with a couple other new items in my closet, one being faux leather leggings by Spanx and the hooded Walker coat by Calvin Klein (currently 50% off at Macy’s!). I cannot say enough amazing things about these leggings. They look like real leather and do what Spanx are made to do – smooth, control and flatter. I came across this coat a few weeks ago and decided to forego purchasing it because I had a feeling it may go on sale. My instinct was right and I scored it last week for 50% off! I love how the length is a bit shorter and the fur hood is obviously the best part. It may or may not make me feel like a Sherpa in the best way possible.
I’m in mad Christmas mode today. We’ve starting packing up for our road trip to Iowa, last minute wrapping, baking cookies and off to see the Tran-Siberian Orchestra tonight! Corey surprised me with tickets and I am thrilled because I’ve been dying to see them…will be a perfect way to kick off the holiday weekend. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope you enjoy this precious time with family and friends.
