It feels so good to see the sun shining today – hello Spring! I can’t believe how much rain we’ve had these last few weeks. Talk about a buzz kill for my mood, on top of all the other sh*t that is going on with life. I’ve been sharing how stressful and overwhelming the last few months have been, but haven’t provided much elaboration. Here comes some big news…I am THRILLED to share that we are closing on our first home tomorrow! We started the house hunt back in February, physically looked at over 40 houses, and out of no where found this beautiful house.

So many people told me, “You’ll walk through a house and just get that feeling”. I genuinely wanted to believe this would be the case, but I called bullshit. I stood corrected…the minute I walked into the open house, I began envisioning how I’d decorate for Christmas (this is no joke!). We both knew this was our home and put an offer in the next day. Home buying is everything you’d expect it to be: overwhelming, educational, stressful, exciting, intimidating, expensive, frustrating…just about every emotion there is.

It is not easy. But that is what makes it so rewarding when you get that ‘clear to close’ email. We cannot wait for this next chapter of our lives. We have something of our own, something we’re investing in, something we are truly and selfishly making our own – style, color, function, atmosphere, ambience.

Our move was the perfect excuse to purge. For me, this specifically meant doubling down on clothing and shoes. While sorting through everything, I focused on simplifying my wardrobe and staying strict on only keeping items that are in my usual rotation. The rule I like to follow is if you haven’t worn something in the last 6 months, it is time to give away. A recent addition to my blouse lineup is this baby blue floral (under $25!) from the WhoWhatWear line from TargetStyle – a great find for spring and summer. I prefer collarless blouses since it can be worn for both casual and formal functions – for this look, I opted for my Vince sneaks during the day and a strappy nude heel for evening. Also, I discovered my new go-to for earrings. Ann Taylor always has the best jewelry on sale, these baby pink hoops are perfect for summer!
